Their carefully coordinated efforts combine to restore and enhance the mobility of each individual and speed recovery times.
Physicians
The highly trained, board certified orthopedic surgeons include specialists in spine, hip, knee and shoulder surgery. Their skills have been honored with numerous accolades and awards, including being ranked among the top 5% in the nation for Orthopedic Services and Joint replacement (Healthgrades 2011-2016).
Care Team
At SJI, successful orthopedic care starts with a team of uniquely skilled and knowledgeable rehabilitation and recovery specialists collaborating to produce improved outcomes, reduce pain, speed recovery and maximize patient mobility. Key team members include:
Patient Navigator: |
Starts working with patients and family members several weeks before the procedure to provide orientation, suggest preparation and arrange for post-surgery improvements in the home environment. |
Registered Nurses: |
Experienced with joint replacement and spine procedures, they provide post-surgical care and oversight to assure that doctors’ orders are facilitated and patients are monitored. |
Physical Therapists: |
Work with you to increase functional mobility skills and educate you on exercises designed to increase strength and motion. |
Occupational Therapists: |
Instruction on performing daily tasks such as dressing until full mobility has been achieved. |
Pain Management Specialist: |
Works to create a pain management program so that your recovery is as comfortable as possible. |
Case Managers: |
Coordinate your hospital care and answer questions during each step of your recovery process. They assist you with your post-hospital care needs and any equipment needs. |
Personal Rehab Coach: |
We ask you to designate a family member or friend to serve as a “Coach.” They will receive special training and accompany you throughout your procedure and rehabilitation process. |
